Student of the Month
May 2012: Melody Geppi

It all started in June of 2010 when my daughter, Paula purchased a groupon for the Bikram Yoga Studio. She invited me to join her for class. I had been faithfully training at the gym for several years trying to achieve my goals of reducing my BMI. When she explained that Bikram yoga was hot to facilitate detoxing and weight loss, I was ready to shake up my routine to jumpstart my body. After my introductory week, I was hooked! Admittedly, it is the hardest and most fun workout I have ever tried. I am now in my second consecutive year of my yoga practice. My life has been transformed. Not only is my BMI below 20, but I no long have glaucoma! At the age of 31, I was diagnosed with glaucoma and put on a daily regimen of eye drops to keep my pressures at normal limits. Because of yoga for the last two years, now at age 51, I have normal eye pressures without medication. My insurance premium dropped and I have no medication expenses! My yoga practice has also helped with my occasional sciatic nerve spasms and other assorted body aches and pains for normal aging. I feel like a kid again! My mental focus, attitude on life and my spiritual walk are all improved due to my daily practice at Bikram. We have all been searching for that infamous 'fountain of youth" and I found it! No matter what your age or physical condition, Bikram yoga is a restorative practice that will re"joy"vinate your heart, mind, body, and spirit. The instructors are dedicated to helping you become healthier and more in balance. The beauty is that where you are is the starting point.
The staff and instructors are also on a journey of better health and personal growth. As we embark on this path together, we help each other reach new levels. Thank you my new friends. Each one of you adds a special flavor to help me reach my dreams and goals.
"Blessings from Heaven"
In His service,
Pastor Melody Geppi

The sweat is your proof.
It is the evidence that more of Life has moved through you, by your own willingness to surrender. You give into Bikram…and that is when you rise.
Bikram Yoga Westside stands in the perfect location.
In front of me, the mirror tells me where I am in my life each day. The windows behind me allow the Red Rock Mountains to have my back. And just beyond them is the life-giving, all-powerful sun.
What can stop me after 90 minutes in this magnificent cocoon?
“The only thing stopping you is you,” is what the Bikram teacher says.
He’s right. And that is why you must surrender.
Five years ago, when I sat at the computer searching for a studio to attend in Vegas, I was not new to Yoga. I had already been introduced to and engaged in the sense of community that resonates from the word Namaste. Relieving stiffness or body aches were crucial part of my Los Angeles past. So, that day, in front of my laptop, was about needing the energy of togetherness that flows between Yogis. That is what I craved, now that life had brought me to “Sin City.”
Address in hand, I drove across town. It was the middle of the summer and I never expected that the room would be hotter than it was outside. I had never been to this kind of Yoga. But, I could feel the camaraderie emanating from the bodies of the class that had just finished before I arrived. As a Lifestyle Coach, I could sense that they were somehow different from when they entered the door. So, I let go of resisting 90 minutes of being hot… and I have never been the same.
That particular studio is no longer with us. But the powerhouses that were there, are sparking a fire inside new students all around Las Vegas. Like potent lava flowing from the core of the earth, more studios pour out onto the city. And I have sweated in them all.
Oh, but those mountains. Yes, those mountains at Bikram Westside. They are priceless, timeless, reminders always starring through the window, along side the guidance of the beautiful teachers, proving that when we allow life to happen “through” us, together we rise.
It would be foolish to stop elevating now!

What Yoga has meant for the integration of my Body, Mind & Spirit.
As a mixed-media visual artist and arts educator, I'm inspired by world cultures, both ancient and modern. I create soul-stirring art informed by universal archetypes and symbols. My work maps transcendental moments and abstract metaphors of journey :: time.
As a fine-arts major at New York University, I studied Indian Art + Religion; I have continued working with-in the Vedic Yoga Sutra tradition of Patanjali. As a student, my imagination was touched by a bronze sculpture, "The Dance of Shiva" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. It has been through this "door" that I began my Yoga practice. Since 1967 I've tasted many different lineages of Yoga; I must admit to being a seeker.
Yet when I started Bikram, a year and a half ago, I knew that I found what had been so elusive, that is: "The Real Thing". My first class offered up the double liquid pleasure of perspiration and tears to signal a return to home.
It is to do my art that I live and in order to do it I must have my energetic flow so that I may be available to meet "The Muse". I am honored and grateful to practice at Bikram Westside Yoga in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is all so perfectly clear.
Namaste,

A very good friend of ours sat down with us at breakfast and began sharing his experiences with the practice of Bikram Yoga. He was extremely excited, and as he showed his enthusiasm about the new "Exercise" he also was sharing his personal revelations about his body. He was amazed at himself, and proud. He has been an avid soccer player and sports enthusiast, he always had a good heart, but he had a moments when he would get a bit out of sorts. He had realized he was "stressing out" about too many things and he knew he needed to change something. Then an acquaintance of his shared his experience of Bikram Yoga and our friend became hooked.
Howard and I thought we could do it, especially if the results we so uplifting. We had been going through so many tough situations, and our strength of conviction, our friend Savas thinking we would never do it.
So... we agreed, just to show Savas that we were up for the challenge. We never thought we were too "old" but we had no idea what a life "challenging feeling. We let go of disappointments from the past and opened ourselves to the wonder of the future.
Overall, we feel so much more in control of our destiny, believing if we can do this then we can do so much more in life.
WE may now, after all these years, share something so very bright & exhilarating that we feel genuinely better together.
Thank you Bikram Yoga for our rebirth of spirit & hope.
Dream at any age...

Well my experience with Bikram Yoga Westside started last February 2011! I had just moved to Las Vegas from California and really was not looking for "a yoga program"! But one day I wondered into the studio to see what this was all about. The only other reference I had to any yoga were some CD's I had for home practice, which were seldom used!
At the front desk that cold day, was a young lady, Ashlyn! She was just about the nicest and most pleasant person I had met in Vegas, and by the time I walked out I had signed a 3 month contract! To "practice yoga"! How hard could that be, Ashlyn told me! "You will be fine!" And I believed her! But she left a few things out! How hard could it be? I found out the next day when I came back for the "first time practice"!
I listened to the instructor as she welcomed all the first timers, and obviously I was the oldest person in the room. I thought... "OMG I am in trouble!" All these young flexible bodies and me! Good thing I was in the back of the room! And geezes it was hot! I had only been in the room 15 minutes and already was dripping with sweat and had not yet done one pose!
Where is that Ashlyn?
But from that very first practice I have found that the instructors here at this Bikram Yoga are really special people. Every one them is not only an excellent yoga teacher/instructor, but they also really want everyone in the class to do well. Whether we are new, experienced, young or old! Every instructor is quite supportive, and constantly encourages each and everyone in the room, regardless of their abilities, or age, to do the postures as best they can. But there some things they all do expect and ask the class to do:
- Stay in the room!
- Do your best in each posture!
- Breathe ....normally! As if that is easy sometimes!
- Keep your knee locked!
- Control your peace and quietness..... control your thoughts.
- Once the posture is done.....forget about it! Be still!
- No drama...as one instructor always intones.
- Come back tomorrow!
Since I am about as flexible as any senior who was never flexible, I had to struggle with every posture. [still do!]
Not only were the poses to 'stretch it all out to the point of pain', but found I had pain in places I never knew I had! The knees, shoulders, neck, back, elbows all hurt in one posture or the other. Then I realized I could not lift my arms up above my shoulders as they were locked down! And then there was that pain! But after a few months I found I could finally lift my arms above my shoulders, and do some of the postures deeper with less pain. As a senior I knew I had to be able to lift my arms above my head, or serious problems could result and cause respiratory complications, as I was told by a doctor. It still hurts to this day, but as one instructor tells us all every time... just go 1 mm more each time! Glad she made it only one mm.... because that is about it!
Then there are all levels of students here too. Some of them are just amazing practitioners in their own way, and and it almost hurts to watch them do the poses so deeply and precisely! But then they are young! And flexible! There are many professional people who take yoga classes here. Some are dancers or are in other strenuous professions, and they all say this is the hardest yet most beneficial exercise they do. Even the young guys will sit in the locker room after a class and be totally exhausted...makes me feel good that I am not the only one!
Lastly, a note about the center as a whole. While all Bikram teachers are trained in the same manner, I have heard from some students, who have been elsewhere, say that Bikram Yoga Westside is the best in having such great supportive instructors and staff, and that it is also one of the best facilities.
I was away for a few months, but when I came back Marie, the Sweet Assassin, signed me back up for the rest of my second 3 months. So after about 6 months of classes have to say that, as one instructor always points out.... this type of hot yoga tends to be an acquired taste. I have found it still is never easy. But I know it has greatly helped me so far, and to continue means to get even better physically, even if it is a slow process for me. Also I realized it needs to be used often like any other therapy or exercise. But as one instructor [from Chicago!] always says " you are not hurting your body you are healing it! So don't stop coming back!"
By the way, that young lady Ashlyn, who was at the front desk, and who got me to sign up for that first "3 months"....is now one of the great instructors here! She is quite an impressive, supportive, and energizing teacher here at Bikram Yoga Westside.
All the instructors who teach and guide us in the Bikram method here... are not the same, which makes each class a unique experience.
They all make this studio the best in Las Vegas!

In 2008, I met John Salvatore through mutual friends from Toronto. He told me about what Bikram had done for his life and it really stuck with me. At the time, I was going through a low point emotionally in my life and was struggling to find my happiness again. It took a couple of months to build the courage, but I finally looked up John's class and went in the next day. It was the most intense workout I have ever experienced. John said to try it for seven days in a row to see if I liked it. About two months into practicing I was asked to compete and three months later I did It was the physical and mental challenge I needed to kick start my life back in gear. I have now been practicing for almost a year and a half and with the help of all the wonderful instructors who pushed me when I didn't think I had the strength to, I have truly found my strength, happiness, joy and most importantly, my spirit. I hope to attend teacher training so that I can give to someone in need, the gift I was given. I am forever grateful for this practice, and for that chance meeting with John Salvatore that changed my life for the better.

I had heard of hot yoga before. One of my co-workers mentioned to me how he was taking classes at Bikram Yoga Westside and how it made him feel better both mentally and physically. I mentioned that I would like to come to a class one day. He kept on inviting me, but it was easier to say maybe tomorrow than go today. One day another co-worker said they were going to go to class that day. Believing in safety in numbers, I decided to go. At the time I was working out at a local gym doing an hour a day on the stairmaster. Not the most exciting workout, but I knew I needed to exercise.
I went to my first class and it was unlike anything I have ever done before. It was both physically and mentally challenging. After class I had somewhat of a glow, I couldn't describe it. When I went to work that night, I was more refreshed as I had the best nights sleep I have had in a long time. Most importantly I was more relaxed and my mind was calmer. When working the graveyard shift, these are some very important things.
After my 1st class ,I attended class every day in my intro week. Then it was time for vacation. After two weeks away the last thing I wanted to do was go back to yoga in the hot sweaty room. I kept on making excuses on why I should go tomorrow. Then one day at work, I really felt the stress. This is when I knew I had to go back to the yoga studio. The next day at work I was able to see the noticeable difference in my demeanor at work, and I knew I had to keep on going every day. After about 10 days of class I thought I should try and do 30 classes in 30 days as I heard about the benefits. After I completed that, another 10 days passed and I thought why not try for the 60 in 60. After completing the 60, I noticed I was able to do things in class that I hadn't dreamed of doing when I took my 1st class.
In addition to the physical benefits, it was the non physical that kept me coming back. I had improved sleep patterns, more relaxed at work and less stress in my personal life. Many of my co-workers and friends were asking me what I was doing as they noticed a big change in my physical appearance. I would tell them about Bikram Yoga and its many benefits.
During the five and a half months since I returned from vacation I managed to lose over 30 pounds. My body fat percentage has been cut in half from the same time last year as well as lower blood pressure and a reduced cholesterol count. However to me the most important thing is the improved mental state. I am glad that Bikram Yoga came in to my life when it did, as I am now able to appreciate the change in my life both physically and mentally. I was also able to convince a few of my co-workers to attend class and they have also received benefits from Bikram Yoga, from no more back pain to improved mental clarity.
I can't thank everyone at Bikram Yoga Westside enough, as you have helped me change my life in a positive direction. I enjoy taking classes from each and every instructor as I learn something new in every class.

I couldn't believe my Cardiologist was telling me that this was my cholesterol count. To make matters worse he tells me that I need to take heart medication. I fire back and tell him , "Are you crazy." " I'm 37, how is this possible?" He then goes through the list of contributing factors: No exercise, poor eating regimen and stress. The first two were obvious, but I didn't realize how the last had affected my health that much. 6 months prior my wife passed away. It was very sudden and with 3 small children to take care of, I placed my health on the back burner. As a police officer, my work only contributed to the added stress. Something needed to change.
I tell the doctor, "I'll see you in 6 months". I took the heart medication one time and it made me flush so I stopped. I hate Meds. 3 days later I walk into Bikram Westside not knowing that my life was about to change in more ways than I ever expected. Have you ever felt that you were exactly where you needed to be at the right time in your life. What's crazy is that my wife introduced me to yoga and we had talked about going to Bikram Westside.
I wear swim shorts to my first class. I position myself in the back, off to the left where I hope the instructor will not notice me. The first thing that pops in my head is, "F@#% it's hot in here". "What the hell are these people thinking". At first I'm thinking there is no way I'm going to survive this African heat and Filipino humidity wrapped up into one for a full 90 minutes. there is no way you are tapping out in front of all these women". The torture began and with it my Bikram journey.
I came back the next day. 2 days a week quickly became 5-6 days a week. The physical changes were immediate. I started to lose weight. My strength, flexibility and balance increased. But surprisingly, the greatest gift this practice has given me is an amazing sense of peace. When I'm standing head-to-knee and I've got sweat dripping in my eyes and the only thing on my mind is "Lock your damn knee" I'm in heaven. For me this is not a workout, it's a way of life. The peace and focus I obtain in that room, I take with me throughout the day as a father, a friend, an officer.
So 6 months pass and the nurse calls me with my new cholesterol results: 160. She adds that my bad cholesterol came down from 157 to 94. She tells me to keep taking the heart medication because it's working. I tell her that I never took it. She asked what I was doing to get the numbers so low. I told her, "Bikram Yoga".
I now have 4 pairs of yoga shorts and I position myself to the front, thanks to the advice of a friend. It's still hot and humid as ever, but now I have grown to love the torture if that makes any sense.
An instructor once said something in class that has resonated with me ever since, "God can't bring anything new into your life until you let go of what your trying to hold onto". The most difficult thing for us to do sometimes is to let go. Let go of the fears, whatever they may be for you. When I let go, I allowed this Practice into my life and it hasn't been the same since.
I simply want to thank Brandie and all the amazing instructors for their dedication and commitment to Bikram Yoga. And personally, you have not only changed my practice for the better, but my life all the more. God Bless you all.

Bikram Yoga is indeed not for the faint at heart. Grace was first introduced to Bikram Yoga by her hairdresser, who had been going for some time. Grace was looking for a way to get fit, and Pete was between softball seasons, recovering from a pulled calf muscle.
Before the first class, Grace insisted that she was only going to watch, accepting the only condition of the first class: stay in the room the entire 90 minutes. Well, 6 weeks later, belly bulges gone, Grace was enjoying her "new" smaller clothes, while complaining that she had not lost any weight. Bikram says in one of his passages in his books, that one will not lose even an ounce of weight but will notice that clothes will fit better. Bikram was true to his words. Pete and Grace made yoga as one of their appointments during the week. Nothing is scheduled during the time the couple will be at the studio. Aside from doing yoga, the couple started to think "healthy," making sure they drink lots of water and eat healthy.
The goal of Pete and Grace is to try harder now that they know the routine. According to the yoga instructors, you have to push yourself a little harder every time you go to class. "While we know we are a ways from doing all the poses, we know we are better in so many ways than when we started, and continue to improve with every session." Not bad for a couple of 55-year-olds, eh?

I was originally introduced to Bikram Yoga just over a year ago. I have a friend that had clearly lost his mind and wouldn't stop incessantly raving about this crazy Yoga he was doing in a hot room. I dismissed it and thought he had finally lost his mind. I have known him for 12+ years and I began to notice that in all that time I couldn't find anything that he ever was this excited about. So, after numerous requests on his part I stepped into my first Bikram Yoga class. I had to leave the room as I was going to black out but as I sat outside I knew that I was going to come back the next day. I did. I went for 14 days nonstop. At that time I couldn't make the commitment to the Yoga due to working two jobs. Time passed and in during the course I lost my father after his 3 year battle with cancer. Your life shifts after something like that and you begin to look for what is really important in life. I had been ruining my body working 2 casino dealing jobs for 7 years in an attempt to save my home. I was a wreck, bad back, knees, tendon injury in my right forearm, torn rotator cuff from a body surfing incident in Hawaii some years ago, complications from a previous broken elbow, you name it. So I thought that it was finally time for me to be honest and take care of myself. I quit my second job and I turned to "traditional" exercise. It had worked in the past. I worked with a trainer and began to notice that it wasn't helping me, it was making me worse. Cardio just amplified the pain I was having in my knees. I tried the least amount of impact possible, no help. Weight training was difficult due to it bringing up the tendon issue in my forearm, reigniting the pain in my rotator cuff and making things harder on my back. Some mornings I literally couldn't straighten up when I got out of bed my back pain was so severe. I turned to my trainer for advice and was told to train more and it would go away. Well, it didn't. I began to feel that it was hopeless and that perhaps I had damaged my body beyond repair since what I was doing to repair and heal my body was only making things worse.
It was around that time that I got an email from Bikram Yoga Westside stating that they were celebrating their one year anniversary with a special price for a year of unlimited Yoga. One of my favorite teachers was spotlighted in that email as well and I began to think hey, maybe I should just dig in and give this Yoga a shot again. I was at class that very same day. It was everything I remembered and I got that "Bikram Bliss" feeling that I feel after practice. I bought an intro month and then my intro year. I went to 60 classes in 60 days just as Bikram recommends. The results are astounding! I have lost over 20 pounds in 90 days, and counting. I have pulled in my belt from a tight second notch to the fourth and now hinting at the fifth notch. I have noticed an amazing decrease in my appetite and improved my eating habits. I have not once, since practicing Bikram Yoga, woken up with back pain or been unable to straighten up when I get up in the morning. My knee problems are improving and the pain that I had been living in while I am working is diminishing too. I find that I am more tolerant and able to let the stresses of life and working in the Casino industry just don't affect me as much. I find that I am more outgoing and I just seem to smile more. I ask, can you put a price on all that? Just a consistent Yoga practice in such a short amount of time has brought me so many benefits. I cannot wait to see what continuing to "love myself enough to struggle" will bring me and those I come into contact with in my life.
The beauty of Bikram Yoga Westside for me isn't found merely in the gorgeous studio or the amazing facilities. I have to say it's the people that work there to share this Yoga with me. The reception team who makes me feel loved and welcome every time I walk in the door simply can't be beat. The teachers have such a wealth of experience to share that each time I take class I come out with a deeper understanding of the postures, the breathing and just the Yoga in general. Each teacher shines their light on this Yoga and illuminates a different aspect of it for me. This is something rare and wonderful as my practice is never static this way. I am always learning due to this gift of diversity in teaching at Westside. I also have to give credit to the fine boutique as well. I bought some Yoga shorts there and now have more freedom of movement to go deeper in the postures. I never thought my clothes could constrict me that much. In short, you owe it to yourself and those you love to practice this Bikram Yoga. I say just do the Yoga and everything else will fall into place.

My Road to Bikram Yoga, and beyond.
Flying back home from my cousins funeral who lost the battle to Prostrate Cancer, I thought I should get tested. I purchased a home sample kit and sent in for analysis. I received a call one week later and the nurse on the phone said that I should get to a local doctor as soon as possible. She continued to tell me my test result came in at 12.
I asked her what it should be and she said .001, so my test result was super positive for Cancer. I did go to a local doctor to get retested which results would take two weeks. So I recall reading in Runner magazine that Bikram Yoga had proven to improve health and general life improvements. So I took my first class, and went everyday while I waited for the results to come in. When they did come back my level was at .001 all was good, the first test proved to be a false positive.
I took this as a life giving me a warning of just what could have been like for me. That was two years ago and I have not stopped doing Bikram since. I had heal spurs and should joint pain in my left shoulder which have all disappeared along with 30 pounds and unknown inches. Even my feet have lost weight for all my shoes are loose. I am so very grateful to be with such a great group of people who's life focus is like no other. And as I travel for my job I am able to partake in Bikram everywhere I go, even Germany. I do love returning to Bikram Yoga West for I find here our teachers and classes have more disciple and excel most cities I attend. Thank you for giving me a place to grow as a person and interact with friends, new found friends.
Much love your way,
John Nalbor

Yoga had already changed my life when I took my first Bikram yoga class in March of 2010. I had lost over 115# over the previous four years by eating right, practicing vinyasa/power) yoga, taking Spin/cycle classes, and working out with kettlebells for strength training. What Bikram did was take me to the next level of heath and fitness. I had already built up muscle which put and kept me in fat burning mode. I didn't want to keep building muscle as much as wanted to maintain it. Bikram's series of isometric postures not only helped me maintain the muscle, but actually made me stronger. I believe in cross training and so I continue to practice other types of yoga (vinyasa/ashtanga,etc) and still take at least one Spin class per week. However,Bikram has become my primary mode of exercise and I try to average 3-4 classes perweek, which gives me cardio, strength training, and so much more. When I am able to practice consistently, I sleep better, my emotions are more stable, I have more patience (which helps since I am a speech therapist working with children 3-11 yrs old). Overall, I just feel as though I can handle "life" better. Another huge benefit is that I, as most of us, have "issues in my tissues" . I have one hip which sits about an inch higher than the other. I've gone to chiropractors, but my hip still falls out, each and every day. Without fail, when I practice, about fifteen minutes into class, I feel, hear, and see my hip "pop" and go back into place. It is pretty incredible! I love how much I've learned about my self and my body by doing this practice. Not to mention I NEVER thought I'd wear a bikini again or some of those little outfits so many of us yogis sport in the hot room. But I do! I feel truly blessed to have found a physical and spiritual exercise routine which, God willing, I will be able to practice for the rest of my life.
Namaste,
Terri

Coming into my later days I found myself in the world of economic crisis working three jobs, one being scrubbing floors! One morning arising I could not move my one leg, struggling I went to one of my jobs and one of my colleagues who is a registered nurse said "I know we do not have insurance but i suggest you to go to Bikram Yoga." I looked at her and said "I don't feel I can do that," in return she said "I will take you and you will see how this will change your life and become a way of life. It will detoxify, reshape your body, remove stress and help with the flow of your blood and your vascular system. This will cause your circulation and your blood to pass through various vessels and give you correct breathing techniques." She also added that my waist size should be no larger than half of a person's height. For example, a person who is 64 inches tall shoul have a waist size of no more than 30 inches.
When we arrived I was so overwhelmed. At first I thought I can't get up these stairs and when the class started I thought the death angel was coming for me! After class I told my friend that I am not going to make it. She said, "you are and you're coming back tomorrow!" I did. This has changed my life forever! My legs are moving again. My sleep pattern has changed, plus my energy level is beyond measure.
Thank you for new beginning, my later days will be greater than my former days. It was a great honor to meet Bikram. He not only encouraged me, but signed my book he had written.
I am so ever grateful knowing now, "the best is yet to come!"
With love,
Esther

Since starting Bikram Yoga nine months ago at the Westside Studio, I've experienced many personal changes: weight loss (25 lbs. and counting!), increased flexibility, softer skin, and an increase in energy (just to name a few).
On my first day of class, I was 60 lbs. overweight and incredibly self-conscious about my body. This is not my first experience with Bikram Yoga. Three years ago I attended classes while still living in New York. But I didn't stick with it. Intuitively, though, I knew that there was something amazing about Bikram Yoga and that I would return to it in the future. The instructors at the Westside Studio are magnificent and always supportive.
I'm constantly encouraged by their caring nature and collective enthusiasm for what they do. They are a significant part of why I enjoy doing Bikram Yoga so much! I truly believe that doing Bikram Yoga every day has been critical to my success. The benefits of maintaining a regular schedule are incredible and I cannot imagine my life without it. This idea was originally presented to me in an online article that I highly recommend:
www.paige-williams.com/stories/Bikram.pdf
In conclusion, Bikram Yoga is one of the best things that I have done for my health, well-being, and happiness!
Thank You!

My wife Monique introduced me to Bikram Yoga. Little did I know at that time I would become so dedicated that everyday I would start doing Bikram Yoga, but that has been my way. Kirk Schab, I called him "Captain Kirk of the Yoga Starship Enterprise" was my first teacher. My earliest class with him was the turning point for me. There was a woman who was celebrating her birthday. We went into Triangle and before I knew it, Kirk had everyone singing Happy Birthday to this woman in Triangle. I do not know how I did that or got through it, but that is all it took, and I have come everyday since. Marie Acain and Noel Nichols have taught me the two greatest things I carry with me in my class and life, "Discipline" and "Direction". This has helped me to heal from the inside out and is my daily internal power pack. Doing Bikram Yoga every day keeps my energy level high and helps me to play my best game. Bikram yoga is such a complete workout, I am able to bring it as motivational speaker and top producer for Rick Altig at ALTIG International/American Income Life.

My name is Asari Burk and I have been doing Bikram Yoga since August 26, 2010. What keeps me coming back is that every class I feel good and that it has helped me concentrate better in school. I also have made alot of friends and every day that I go, no matter how I feel, I always come out of class feeling much better. I do it so my grandma can go to Bikram Yoga instead of going to the doctor for pills for her health. She has it here with natural healing. What got me and she started was because she went to the hospital this past summer because her blood sugar was high due to her stress from her job at Walmart with her having her schedule changing constantly. Now ever since that day we came here in August, we come back so that way she is off the pills that the doctor gave her and so I don't have to constantly prick her finger to see how her blood sugar is. We have had very good times and she has not visited a doctor in four months. I have found that my clothes have gotten bigger and that I have found one exercise that I find benefits in for my health and it is this Yoga that I am so glad to start at the age of fourteen. I will continue with it throughout my whole life. My most favorite posture is the Camel even though the teacher says "CAMEL TIME" I get up and do the posture and that it takes my pains away and I end up being more flexible.
Sincerely,
Asari Burk
