FAQs

Why the heated room?
The room is intentionally heated to warm your muscles and allow you to work deeper and safer. The heat also heals, helps prevent injuries, and promotes sweating which flushes toxins from your body.

What are some of the benefits?
There are unlimited benefits to Bikram Yoga. It reduces stress, increases blood circulation and improves strength and flexibility. Regular practice (at least three times a week) can reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases (i.e. arthritis, diabetes, and thyroid disorders). It also promotes relaxation.

Is it a cardiovascular workout and can I lose weight?
No matter what your level of fitness, you will find Bikram Yoga very challenging. Each posture combines flexibility, strength and balance to work your whole body from your bones to your skin! With persistence, patience and dedication, you can lose inches and develop muscle tone and strength that might never come from other forms of exercise.

What should I wear to class?
Women should wear shorts and a sports bra/tank top, or thin cotton leggings and a leotard. Men should wear biking shorts or bathing trunks. Since the room is heated, you want to wear something that you feel comfortable sweating in. Less clothing is best. Anything with a little spandex in it can help to allow for a full range of movement. Avoid sweats or loose/oversized T-shirts.

How should I prepare for class?
Choose a class time that works for you and arrive about 10 minutes before the class starts (20 minutes if it's your first time at the studio). We have spacious men's and women's dressing rooms and showers (3 showers for the women and 2 for the men) complete with hair dryers, hanging rods and cubbies (but no lockers). All of our water in the studio is double filtered, including the showers, steam room and water fountains. Bring a water bottle for class. It's best if you don't eat for at least 4 hours prior to class time. Bring a yoga mat and a large beach towel, or you can rent from us. And most important, be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to get your body fully hydrated (64-96 ounces over your normal intake).
